CBD Health Benefits

Medallion Wellness Loves Having Healthy Neighbors!

Cannabis has been celebrated for centuries because of its deep healing properties. When compared to the social costs of its closest competition, like the opioids, sleep aids and anti-anxiety meds of the world, cannabis clearly has the kindest disposition. Cannabidiol (CBD), one of the cannabis plant’s most potent healing agents, actually co-evolved with our human genetics, seemingly just to provide its therapeutic properties to Mother Nature’s grateful human children.

Nature’s tender love is ever abundant, and so is ours, at Medallion Wellness! We bring the world’s best cannabis to our friends and neighbors in California’s Central Valley.

Medallion is always just a phone call away, whenever you need us. We are a pioneering California Commercial Cannabis Business Entity and a California Essential Business. What Is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) oil is a product that’s derived from cannabis. It’s a type of cannabinoid. Cannabinoids are among the many helpful chemicals naturally found in cannabis plants. Even though it comes from cannabis, CBD doesn’t create a “high” effect or any form of intoxication as its sister cannabinoid, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is fairly famous for.[1]

What Is CBD?

There’s some controversy around cannabis products like CBD oil because of cannabis’ unfairly sordid legal history. But we’ve always been a step ahead, here in California. Medallion Wellness is at the vanguard of growing awareness about the possible health benefits of CBD oil. Read the Medallion Wellness blog and increase your own awareness of the latest health tips, cannabis news and product information. Cannabis is now!

Anti-Seizure Medication

There is strong scientific evidence that points to CBD as an effective treatment for some of the cruelest childhood epilepsy syndromes. The evidence is so convincing, in fact, that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved the first-ever cannabis-derived anti-seizure medication, Epidiolex, which contains CBD.[2]

In numerous studies, CBD was able to reduce the number of seizures for those stricken with epilepsy. In some cases, it was able to stop seizures altogether. Videos of the effects of CBD on these children and their seizures are readily available on the Internet. They are quite striking

What Is the Best CBD for Seizures?

Epidiolex is the only prescription form of CBD available. It was approved by the FDA in June 2018 for treating seizures in two merciless forms epilepsy—Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) and Dravet syndrome. Epidiolex is approved for adults and children over the age of two.

Chronic Pain Relief

CBD Chronic Pain Relief

Chronic pain sufferers of all stripes are likely to find long sought-after relief in the healing benefits of CBD. A study published in the European Journal of Pain demonstrated the mechanism by which CBD inhibits inflammatory and neuropathic pain, two of the most difficult types of chronic pain to treat.[3] More study in humans is needed in this area.

Does CBD Oil Really Help Treat Arthritis Pain?

Research confirms that CBD’s positive effect on pain may be a primary benefit to people afflicted with arthritis. A study from the European Journal of Pain showed, using an animal model, CBD applied on the skin could help lower pain and inflammation due to arthritis. Based on their findings, researchers affirmed that it decreased joint inflammation and served as a protectant to the nerves.[4]

Anti-Anxiety Treatment

CBD might be the missing magic to help you manage anxiety. Researchers think it may change the way your brain’s receptors respond to serotonin, a chemical linked to mental health. Receptors are tiny proteins attached to your cells that receive chemical messages. They help your cells respond to different stimuli. Scientists say that a 600mg dose of CBD is a salve for stage fright. Evidence shows CBD helps people with social anxiety give impromptu speeches.

How Does CBD Help Relieve Anxiety?

  • Reduces Stress
  • Modulates Heart Rate
  • Improves Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Curtails Insomnia

All-Natural Sleep Aid

A significant benefit of CBD oil is that it improves emotional homeostasis, which is a balanced mental state. If you are having trouble sleeping due to anxiety or stress, CBD oil can help. A study conducted in the early 1970s reported the sleep-inducing effects of CBD in rodents. In humans burdened with insomnia, CBD has been shown to increase sleep time when taken in small, controlled doses. In non-insomnia patients, a similar effect was observed at relatively higher doses.

All-Natural Sleep Aid

CBD is an all-natural sleep aid that doesn’t make you tired the next day. CBD allows you to stay asleep, but it won’t cause some of the odd side effects, like sleepwalking, that are induced by prescription sleep meds. CBD interacts with our body’s endocannabinoid system which communicates with our sleep-wake cycle.

In microdoses, CBD has been observed to promote alertness, instead of inducing drowsiness.

Staves Off Somnolence (Daytime Drowsiness)

Depending on the individual and time of day you choose to administer it, CBD can have a “dual effect.” CBD regulates the body’s sleep and waking cycles, providing exactly what you need, exactly when you need it. CBD helps promote wakefulness during daytime and relaxation at night.

Daytime sleepiness, or somnolence, can impact both daytime productivity and the ability to fall asleep at night. If you administer CBD during daylight hours it will promote alertness, leading to a more restful sleep at night.

Is CBD Stimulating or Sedating?

It depends on how much CBD you take. CBD has been shown to have different effects on sleep based on dose. Indeed, low-dose CBD has a stimulating effect. High-doses of CBD, on the other hand, may have a sedating effect. Among insomnia sufferers, the results suggest that 160 mg a day of CBD increased total sleep time and decreased instances of wakefulness in the middle of the night, which is a common problem for many. Conversely, low-dose CBD has been associated with increased vigilance.

Zaps Acne

Zaps Acne

CBD on receptors in the immune system may help reduce overall inflammation in the body. In turn, CBD oil may offer additional benefits for acne management. Studies show that CBD oil prevents activity in sebaceous glands. These glands are responsible for producing sebum, an oily substance that naturally hydrates the skin. Too much sebum on the skin is a key cause of acne.

Some high-CBD flower could be just the trick to nip those zits in the bud! Before you consider CBD oil for acne treatment, it’s worth discussing with your dermatologist. More human studies are needed to evaluate the potential benefits of CBD for acne.

Can CBD Help Cystic Acne?

Cannabis and holistic cannabis extracts, like CBD, could be punitive for pimples. The therapeutic properties of cannabis are certainly helpful in suppressing the symptoms and wrangling the root causes of bothersome blemishes. CBD is a strong anti-inflammatory, so it might aid against the painful swelling that comes with cystic acne. And CBD shows strong antibacterial qualities; this can also combat acne.
